Michael Herndon Bio.

Originally from New York City Michael has lived and performed in the Albuquerque area since 1988. Known for Dynamic style influenced by Jazz, R & B, and Gospel, he ahs demonstrated a fluidity and command of material from classical to reggae.  Whether performing with his own ensemble Maiden Voyage, or performing as a solo artist he electrifies audiences with passion and conviction.

Michael Also uses his talents as a lyricist and vocal arranger to several projects both local and national. 2001 saw the successful release of a project origination in Denver Colorado featuring former Earth, Wind, & Fire saxophonist Andrew Woolfolk. During his career Michael has entertained on both concert stages with stadium capacities opening for acclaimed artists such as CoCo Taylor the undisputed Queen of Blues, and more intimate club stages performing with the likes of Kenny Neil Band and the Kinsey Report with equal comfort and command.

If asked, Michael will tell you with q quixotic smile that he stopped seeing himself as a “singer” a long time ago, in favor of becoming a “vocal instrument” meshing with instrumentalists as he says” Just the lead soloing instrument of the moment within the music as a whole working towards the same goal: Inspiration, innovation, and devotion.”
